Families' guide

We all agree that having a baby in the Special Care Unit, for whatever reason, and for whatever length of time, can be harrowing for the parents.

But sometimes, the extended families are overlooked. Grandparents, aunties, cousins and siblings can all feel redundant, yet the support they can give can make a vital difference.

At BIBS, we recognise the need for families to feel involved and to feel that they are being helpful so, to this end, we've called on our own experiences of Special Care to provide ideas for families on how they might best help the parents.

These are practical tips that may or may not work for you, but just the knowledge that you are trying will mean so much to Mum and Dad at this difficult time.

See the Families' Guide in full, or ask one of the nurses on the ward for a copy of our leaflet.
